An Indignant Judge.
At the Christchurch Supreme Court on Tuesday morning John Shepherd was granted a decree nisi agaihst bis wife, Laetitia Shepherd, on the ground of the latter’s misconduct with John Sandery. No evi dence was given for the defence. Mr Justice Denniston said the fact that the case was defended by the woman was one of the most disgraceful things he ever heard of. The case was an illustration of the hardship sometimes thrown upon a man hiving to find the money to 'enable his wife to defend an indefensible case. Another fact unique in his experience was that of the respondent and corespondent coming into court together, ‘ and • flaunting themselves before the court in mutual relations. Be trusted that the petitioner would succeed in recovering from co respondent the costs which bo had much satisfaction in giving against him.
