balance sheet was read. The report was as follows: REPORT OF COMMITTEE. In accordance with their usual custom, your Committee again present to you the statement of accounts for the year ending 30th June, 1904. The receipts for the year amouut to £2362 2s yd, including the balance brought forward from last year of £346 3s 4d, and the expenditure totals £2430, showing a debit balance of £67 17s sd. All the privileges, with the exception of the publicans’ booths and the horse enclosure were retained by the Club, resulting in a net increase of £62 8s rod over any previous year. The training fees are £g 4s higher than 1903, the increase we consider chiefly due to the improvements done ; your committee anticipate even better results now that the track is in good order. The nominations and acceptances &re £3 10s in excess of last year, the acceptances more than accounting for the deficiency in the nominations, whilst the net totalisator revenue is slightly less than the previous year. The principal items of expenditure are : —Stakes, £1240; improvements and maintainance, £634 gs yd ; Govt; tax, £tgß is gd; salaries, £lO7 4*; printing and advertising, £B3 15s gd; implements, £3B igs 6d, &c, On perusing the balance-sheet it will be observed the amount appear* ihg under the heading of improvements and maintafoence, extensive improvements have been effected to the course and training tracks, no less a sum than £634 gs yd being spent in that direction. A new roller, mower, and rake have been provided for the caretaker, these implements being sadly needed for some time past. Members will view with satisfaction the appointment of Mr S. Messena as caretaker to the Club.
We regret to record the serious loss the Club has sustained through the death of two old members, the late Mr Walter Robinson and Mr E. S. Thynne, both of whom took an active interest in the welfare of the Club, the former holding the office of treasurer, and was also a steward for a number of years, the latter being a vice-presi-dent of the Club for upwards of twenty years.
