THE MALACCA INCIDENT. The Daily Mail states the Malacca captain nailed the British flag to the mast. The prize commander tore it down, hoisted the Russian flag, and threatened the captain for protesting against an attempt to bribe the crew to give information about the cargo. The captain alleges the Malacca was captured 2£ miles from land in territorial waters. The Russian’s request that the Malacca bo supplied with coal in order to proceed to Cherbourg was refused. The Daily Express says the Malacca was detained by virtue of an Egyptian proclamation, made in February, forbidding the passage of war prizes through the canal. The Standard and Times declare that the country is unanimous that the Malacca must not be permitted to leave Port Said under the Russian flag. . v The Malacca has left Pori Said. It is believed her destination is Cherbourg (in France) or Liban (a Russian port on the Baltic).
