New South Wales Floods.
SETTLERS HOMELESS. The whole country in the Richmond district is inundated, but the Nepean is now falling. Round Maitland is a vast inland sea. Many settlers have been driven from their homes, and much damage has been done. This is the biggest flood since 1903. The flood waters are beginning to recede. FEARS FOR THE SAFETY OP THE STEAMER NEMESIS. Further wreckage has been found at Cronulla, Port Hacking, including a box bearing the name “ Nemesis.” This, and the fact that the steamer has not been reported anywhere along the coast, adds to the fear that the Nemesis has foundered with all hands. Wreckage is strewn all along the beach, which indicates that the hatches were burst by heavy seas which splintered the woodwork. The hatches have been recovered; also a part of the bridge and deck cabin fittings, boats and a quantity of coal. One lifeboat apparently in good order also came ashore, but there are no signs of bodies. A heavy swell prevents a- search seawards, ; The Nemesis carried a cargo of* 1600 tons of coal. f . .
