Christchurch Mystery.

WHOLE FAMILY POISONED. Ada Annie Ford, a girl of 15 years, employed as a domestic servant by H. F. Stevens, of New Brighton, died on Saturday night after a few hours’ illness, during which she vomited freely. On Saturday morning, after breakfast, Mrs Stevens and eight children became ill with symptoms similar to those of the girl, and it is suspected to be due to arsenical poisoning. All the sufferers had eaten porridge, Mr Stevens, who alone escaped, being the only one who had none. Several of the children are dangerously ill. No clue has been obtained so far as to the source of the poison, and the inquiry is rendered difficult by the fact that the rest of the family were clearly not poisoned till after the death of the girl.
