Postal Motes.
* v - ■ —• •SYSTEM TEND HI) TO BIUTAIN. As a means of making small remittances to the United Kingdom, British postal orders are now obtainable at all the principal moneyorder offices in the colony, The denominations range from sixpence to one pound, by gradations of sixpence. The poundage payable will be from ene penny to threepence, according to amount; but ns no provision is made for remitting odd pence, persons desiring to send broken amounts will have to purchase an order of the denomination immediately above or below that desired to be sent, or, as an alternative, to send a money order. British postal orders will have a currency of three months from the last day of the month of issue, after which they will be liable to a further rate of commission at time of payment in respect of each period of three months or fraction thereof beyond the period of currency. As British postal orders aggregating more than one pound will not under any circumstances be issued to any one person for payment to , the same payee on any one day, I persons desiring to remit amounts j exceeding one pound should procure | money orders in the usual course. | In respect of each British postal j order purchased, it will be necessary j that the purchaser furnish the name of the payee, to be entered by the issuing officer on the order at the time of issue. British postal orders issued in New Zealand cannot under , any Circumstances be paid in the j colony. Orders issued in the United Kingdom on New Zealand may be ! paid at all money-order offices in : the colony, either to the public direct, or through a bank. The arrangements now concluded with the Imperial Post Office in i connection with the issue and pay- j ment of British postal orders should prove a great boon to persons who have occasion to remit small sums of money to the' United Kingdom.
