Attacked by Savages.

COLONISTS BUTCHERED IN COLD BLOOD. Eastern files state that 150 rebels from the interior swept down upon the residents of the little colony at Kawang railway station, midway between Jesaelton and Papar, British Borneo. i hey butchered the inmates of the Chinese shops ; attacked the railway station and smashed the telephone ; killed the wife and child of the stationmaster, the latter saving his life by hiding in the bush. The band of murderers then turned their attention to the coolies, most of them being Chinese, killing and wounding them in a savage fashion right and left. The railway driver and bis wife ware murdered.

The carnage then became general —males, females, and innocent babies were butchered in cold blood. The murderers also set fire to the houses and huts.
