The New Edison Battery.
Mr Edison’s storage battery has at length been examined by some of tht leading experts in Europe. No ques tion of greater moment in engineerin ', science than that of electric storagi ■ awaits solution; Mr Edison’s batten is a step onwards. The “ Electrician ” fairly suras up the general estimate in the following terms “ The public was led to believe that Mr Edison held invented an appliance which
would cause a revolution in electric traction, and it was reported that he had driven an electric vehicle for 1,000 miles on one charge. After several years of patient waiting, the cell has been seen, tested, and worked to the satisfaction of English second ary battery engineers, and, although it is not in the least likely to effect a revolution in accumulator traction, there does not r main a shadow of doubt that it has many features 9 1 ' 9 superior to those possessed by the 9 e]l - Provided the price is not excessive, the outlook is bright, and we congratulate Mr Edison on having produced a batfery which marks another stage in the progress ‘of the industry.”
