Attempted Murder at Woodville.

ACCUSED COMMITTED FOE TRIAL. The charge against George England, a Maharahara settler, for the alleged attempted murder of his wife and one Thomas Nicholas, was heard at Woodville on Saturday before Mr James, S.M. The evidence went to show that England had been drinking, and was always jealous of his wife when in drink. He made certain accusations against her and struck her, and Nicholas.interfered. England then went and got a gun, and Mrs England, Nicholas, and the children left the house. England is alleged to have fired the shots but did not strike anyone. The accused reserved his defence, and was committed for trial at Napier, bail being refused.
