Kapiti Excursion.

A large crowd of excursionists availed themselves of the opportunity of a trip on the briny by the Queen of the South yesterday, when that vessel made her annual excursion to Kapiti. The steamer was timed to leave at 8 o’clock, but owing to some mishap to her machinery was delayed till 9.30. Fully two hundred made the trip and all appeared to have enjoyed their outing immensely. Fishing seemed to have been the chief pursuit of the male passengers, and some good hauls were made. Captain Harvey and his crew did all in their power for the comfort of the excursionists. The steamer arrived back at the wharf at ten o’clock.
