Foxton Borough Council.
A meeting of the above was held at the Library Buildings on Tuesday evening at 7.30 o’clock. Present—His Worship the Mayor, and Crs J. Symons, G. Coley, G. Stiles, S. Baker, J. Overend, B. Gower, O. Austin and A. Speirs. Letters were read from C. Hill, road man, and after some discussion it was proposed by Cr Baker, seconded by Cr Stiles, That the Mayor’s action re C. Hill be approved, and that Hill be informed that the Council took exception to his officious letters to His Worship the Mayor. As the Council consider Hill under some misunderstanding he may go on with his work under the new overseer. Carried.
The question ot the alteration in the railway time-table was considered and it was proposed by Cr Gower, seconded by Cr Symons, That the Town Clerk be instructed to write to the District Traffic Manager, and state that this Council representing the Foxton residents would consider it a favour if the department in altering the FoxtonPalmerston time-table make the trains leaving Foxton on Wednesdays and Fridays at g a.m. instead of 7, thereby making the stay in Palmerston two hours less.
Proposed by Cr Gower, seconded by Cr Symons, That Mr Whibley’s offer to clean }he drain on No. 6 Line at is per chain be accepted. Carried. The Mayor and Cr Speirs were appointed to inspect the Avenue bridge, and see what repairs are necessary, and the Mayor and Cr Coley were also deputed to look at road opposite Mrs Ashmore’s and J. Whyte’s property. Proposed by Cr Speirs, seconded by Cr Gower, That Gray-street remain as at present. Not carried. Proposed by Cr Symons, seconded by Cr Coley, That Gray-street be discussed at the next general meeting of the Council on nth Anril. Carried. The Council then adjourned.
