The Catholic Concert.

On Thursday night the Foxton Public Hall* was well filled when the above entertainment was held. The whole performance was a huge success, and the audience showed thenappreciation by demanding a repetition of nearly • all the items given. The promoters and management are to b® congratulated on their efforts, as a substantial balance is likely to be left over for the funds of St. Mary’s Church. Those who contributed to the programme were Mrs D’Ath, and Misses Haywood, O'Keefe, Wallace, Levett, Seigreff, and Miss Lizzie Laing, Messrs Hooker and Harper also con. tributed solos. Instrumental selections were given by Messrs Howard and Porter (banjo and mandolin), and Misses Ava and E. Symons (violins), A humorous recitation by Mr Bayiy Siggs and the step dancing of a youth pleased the audience. The cantata “ Queen Flora ’’ was prettily staged, was the tableau “Guardian Angels,” a large number of young ladies taking part in both these pieces. “The Rose, Shamrock and Thistle,” sung in character by Misses Spelman, H. Webb and L. Laing, and Masters G. Levett, F. Levett and D. Laing was appreciated. The overtures to |.ie first and second parts were nicely plaved by Misses Levett (2), and Hennessy. The accompanists were Mesdames Quinn, Symons, and Misses Wallace and Laing. Mr Siggs carried out the duties of stage-manager. A large number remained for the dance held after the concert, which was also successfully carried out.
