McAlister, for The S.M, held the charge proved, and fined the defendant ss, solicitor’s fee 21s. An information was laid against J. J. Stewart for keeping bis billiard room open after 11 p.m. The. S.M. dismissed the case, as it could not bp deemed a billiard room within
the meaning of the Act, as there was only a bagatelle table in it, A “SKUTCHEE” CASE. Alex. Speirs v. Stiles and Coley. Claim £49 2b 3d, the price of a scutcher supplied by plaintiff. The witnesses called on both sides numbered 17, and the case was not concluded until 10.30 last night. The Magistrate allowed judgment for plaintiff for £BS 14s lid, with costa £2 Bd, and solicitor’s fee, £2 2s. A counter claim of £135 for damages and loss of time put in by defendants, was not allowed. Mr J. H. Hankins appeared for plaintiff, and Mr Innes for defendants.
