It was first proposed to cut off the ear only, but as the surgeons were about to perform the operation they decided to cut off nearly an inch of flesh around the ear. The man who bought the ear, and whose name is still withheld, has it held in its place by wire and a steel needle, which will be removed. His head is swollen, but the only possible danger is that erysipelas may set in, though there are no present signs of it. The circulation has boon ostab lished, and Dr Neldon is jubilant at his success. He says the ears are well matched, and that it is the fi-st time in the history of medicine that such an operation has been performed successfully. The man who sold the ear is reported to be doing well in a private hospital in Philadelphia. He was to be discharged in two days.
