Polo.
The New Zealand Polo Association’s annual tournament will be commenced in Auckland on March 3rd, and present indications point to a highly successful gathering. The team chosen to represent Auckland in the principal event, the Savile Cup contest, is undoubtedly a strong one, and should take some beating. Three of the four members forming the combination, says the Herald, have been playing in the Auckland province tournament at Cambridge, and both men and ponies should be in capital “fig ’ by the time they are confronted by the more strenuous task of trying conclusions with the cracks from other parts of the colony next month in the struggle for Captain Savile’s trophy, which, so far, has never been held by Auckland poloists.
