Foxton Borough Council.
A special meeting of the above was held last night at 7.80 o'clock. Present—His Worship the Mayor, and Ors J. Symons, Geo. Coley, J F. Overend, B. G. Gower, S. H. Baker, and Geo. Stiles. It was decided to give Mr W. Gray a copy of his lease of sections Nos. 871 and 872. Proposed by Cr Gower, seconded by Or Symons, That tenders h* called for cleaning the big drain, Guerin’s drain, Symons' outlet, Patrick-sireet drain, and the Avenue drain. Tenders to be in by next meeting on March 14th. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Gower, That the clerk be instructed to write to the secretary of the General Post Office requesting t übst gentleman to have the mail for Moutpa sorted in the postal van, and thereby save from 15 to 25 minutes a day at Shannon. Carried. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Symons, That the Clerk write to the Horowbenua County Council and demand immediate payment of their share of the Wirokino bridge repairs, as the contractor is pressing for payment. Carried. Proposed by Cr Gower, seconded by Or Baker, That the overseer’s report be adopted, and his account be passed for payment. . Carried. Proposed by Cr Symons, seconded by Or Coley, That the supplementary valuation list as received from the Borough valuer be approved. Carried. Proposed by Cr Gower, seconded by Cr Baker, That applications bo advertised for an overseer, to be in by next meeting on March 14th. Carried. Proposed by Cr Baker, seconded by Cr Stiles, That tenders be called for cleaning main drains in the Borough. Tenders to be in by next general meeting. Carried. Proposed by Cr Gower, seconded by Cr Baker, That Messrs Symons and Barnard’s offer for the flax on the Wirokino road at 12s 6d per ton be accepted for one year from date. Carried. The Council then adjourned.
