Wool Sales.

Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report :—“ The third sale of the season was held to day at the Art Gallery, the various brokers offering 4000 bales. There was a large attendance of buyers, the best muster that has been seen at the sales, several Continental and Home buyers attending for the first time. The wools in the catalogue were exceptionally free from grease, but seed and cotts were very prevalent, and materially affected the value of much that was offered. Lambs’ wool was in good demand, and realised as high as y|d, but seedy lambs had to sell at a considerable reduction on this. Generally, there was a rise of |d to f d on the December sale prices, and we quitted nearly the whole of the catalogue under the hammer. The range of prices to-day was as follows : Merino, B|d; half-bred, 6£d to y£d; medium crossbreds and Romneys, 6£d to yd; coarse crossbreds and Lincolns, 6}d to yd; logstained and inferior, 5Jd to 6d ; pieces and bellies, 4-d to sd; locks, lid to 3d; lambs, bright and clean, 6Jd to y£d, slightly seedy sd to sid. Some of the prices realised were: Rewarewa 6£d, JWS. fine 6sd, Fernglen 6Jd, Hinaki 6£d, Myrtle 6Jd, Clive 6Jd, Tepunga 6|d, Larchbank 6jd, Morrison’s Hill yd, ARC 6d, Teroto, lambs yfd, Homewood, lambs yid, WWW yd, Riverside, lambs yd, W&CH yd, GJByd.’’ Wellington, 29th January, 1904.
