The Perils of the Sea.
STEAMER FOUNDERS IN A STORM. The mail steamer Clallam, from Seattle, foundered in a fierce gale four miles off Victoria, British Columbia. Fifty-three persons were drowned. The seas extinguished the fires, and the steamer became unmanageable. The women and children passengers were placed in three lifr| boats, which capsized and all werr drowned. Tugs rescued thirty-three of those remaining aboard.
