It is to be hoped that a similar gathering will be organised for St. Patrick’s Day, 17th March, in connection with the Manawatu Rowing Club. The number of boats at present on the river are more than for some time past, and besides the rowing events, there is no reason why a sailing race and swimming events could not be arranged. We have no doubt but that the public would respond to find suitable prizes, as has been done in the past. The gathering would be likely to attract visitors from outside, and prove a source of enjoyment to many. The Manawatu Rowing Club has lately increased its membership considerably, so that perhaps they will take the initiative in calling a public meeting to Consider the matter, and carry the regatta and water sports to a successful issue.
