In consequence of President Boomvelt’s investigation, wholesale dismissals of high officials in the Post Office have taker place! including M* George W. Beavers (Superintendent 'of Salaries and Alio waives) and Mr' AY. Machen (GeneraHjtaperinten-■ dent of the Free PaHv^B^yisioo),
Both officials ace in the office of the First Assistant Postmaster-General, and hold seats in the Postal Service. It has been shown that 40 per cent paid to the officials for the purchase of stores and for salaries had Jbsen paid without services. Sometimesdiwo salaries w?re paid for one naan. In consequence of the disclosures 8046 promotions and the appointment of 800 additional decks have been cancelled.
