Suicide.

jU four o’clock on Thursday afternoon at Palmerston, a man named John Ronnie took a dose of strychnine at the Avondale boardinghouse. Nothing was known of the affair till tea time and then deceased was found in his room suffering severely from the effects of the poison. The police were Informed of the occurrence and the services of Dr Peach were obtained, The stomach pump was used, but, owing to the time that had elapsed, without avail, Rennie dying that night at ten o’clock. He was conscious to the last and told those present he had taken poison. Deceased was a married man with a wife and four children. He was well known in this district, having been a resident at Moutoa for some years.
