Drowning Accident.

Information was conveyed to Sergeant Stagpoole at Palmerstoo on Sunday, by Mr Hugh Akers, of Riverdale, that a man named Thomas Hill, a station hand employed at Riverdale, had been drowned near Hickson and Reeves* flax'mill.

It appears deceased and another employee at the station went to remove cattle from some low-lying land, which it was expected the river would inundate. A lagoon, a portion of the river, had to be crossed, and, in the absence of the boat usually at the place it was necessary to swim.
