A. New Magistrate.
Mr A. D. Thomson, Clerk of the Magistrate’s Court, Wellington, has received information that he has been appointed a Stipendiary Magistrate. Mr Thomson will proceed to Napier in a lew days to relieve Mr A. Turnbull, S.M., who has been granted three weeks’ leave. Mr Thomson will then go to Palmerston North to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement ef Mr Greenfield. Thomson qualified as a barrister, some years ago. He joined the staff of the Magistrate’s Court at Wanganui (his native place) in 1878. He was afterwards stationed at Feilding, was a relieving officer in various parts of the colony for three years, and was at oae time second clerk at the Wellington Court, being transferred back to Wanganui in 1891 as Clerk of the Court. He remained there until three years ago, when, on the appointment of Mr W. James to the Bench Mr Thomson came to Wellington. Mr Thomson has been • prominent figure in Rugby football |or a long liras, being an old colonial amaiititlTi and il present a mentor ol the Hew Zealand Union. Mr Theneoa is an alder oi fit.
