Last night the Foxton Public Hall was crowded when the third apnual ball of the Foxton Rifle Volunteers was held. The gathering was a moat successful enjoyable one, visitors being present from all parts of the district. couple were dancing, and a number were also present who in other ways enjoyed themselves. The committee consisted of Captain Walsh, Lieutenant Mitchell and Nye, Sergeants Clarke and Rand, Corporals Hurley and Dunn, LanceCorporal Nye, Privates Hickson and Martin, while Lance-Corporal E. E. Smith, the honorary secretary, was also indefatigable in having everything in order. The hall had been nicely decorated, and thfi floor waa in excellent order. The number of fancy costumes was not large, but those who appeared looked extremely well. A temporary supper room had been erected by the caterer, Mr Mark Patreau, adjoining the hall, which enabled him to dispense the refreshmen ts more satisfactorily. The music was perhaps the best that we have yet had in Foxton; and consisted of piano, violin, double bass and cornet, supplied by the wellknown musicians of Palmerston, the Cornwall Family. The extras were nicely played by Misses L. Cook and J. Imrie. Lieut. Nye carried out the duties of M.O. in an efficient manner.
