' ia; ,; r ,. Vj , HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE BENCH. On Saturday Mr A. Greenfield, S.M., received an intimation from the Department of. Justice that in accordance with the decision of Government t<J retire a number of '.who bad attained the age of 65 years, it" would be necessary for him to retire from active duty. Three months leave of absence will be granted Mr Greenfteid*from the Ist of July next and at the termination of that period he will bo paid compensation to which he is legally entitled. In bis communication the Minister of Justice desired to convey the thanks of the Government for the valuable services rendered. by Mr Greenfield during his long and honourable career in the public service. Mr Greenfield joined the service In January 1854, and consequently, has seen close upon 50 years continuous service with both the Provincial and General Governments. —Standard.
