Annexation in the Pacific.
Advices which have been received from San Francisco state that the British Consul at Tahiti, in order to forestall France, sent a warship and annexed three small uninhabited islands near Pitcairn Island, including the island of Ducie, where there is a safe harbour, and which is considered valuable in view of the completion of the Panama canal.
