Foxton Borough Council.

A special meeting of the above was held last night at 7.30 o'clock. Present—Crs Gower, Speirs, Stiles, Symons, Baker, Coley and O. Austin. The clerk apologised for the absence - of the Mayor and Or Walsh. Cr Gower was on the motion of Cr Symons voted to the chair. The report of the Reserves Committee was read as follows :—Gentlemen, —We have to report that by in- ' structions we have visited xst, the night soil depot, and recommend that a dividing fence be erected to separate the rubbish from night soil depot, and {hat a whit* pine box well be constructtd. znd, Victoria Park—We recommend that about three-fourths of the front row of trees ba felled, also some of the second row, and that the bottom row be topped. 3rd, Ferryhouse—We recommend payment to Mr Hillary of zos for some spouting and a break-wind board fence, also that three of the rooms be papered, and that the roof of verandah be covered with iron. —Thos. Westwood, Mayor, for the Reserves Committee. Proposed by Cr Speirs, seconded by Cr Coley, That the continuation of lean-to asked for by Mr C. Spiers at poundkeeper’s house ba agreed to, and that the above-named person get the work done, and that the Council pay one-half of cost up to three pounds. * Carried. Proposed by Cr Symons, seconded by Cr Speirs, That Mr Hillary be allowed £1 for spouting and breakwind erected by him at ferry house. Carried. Proposed by Cr Speirs, seconded by Cr Stiles, That the Reserves Committee mark all trees not to be interfered with, not Interfering with the bottom row, and get specifications drawn out, and call for tenders to do the work, the accepted contractor to get all timber from such trees, and to leave the place clean. Tenders to be in by Monday, May 45th, at 6 p.m. Carried. Proposed by Cr Baker, seconded by Cr Austin, That the District Engineer of New Zealand Railways be asked to remove the gates running to the wharf opposite to wharf-street, Carried". Proposed by Cr Coley, seconded by Cr Austin, That owing to the lateness of the season the overseer be instructed to go on with cleaning out the drains in Jenks-street, Coley-street, Symons' outlet and other drains, and that the engineer take charge of the metal contract. Carried.
