A Magnificent Donation.
An unknown donor has guaranteed three hundred thousand pounds for the modernisation and rebuilding of St. Batholomew’s Hospital, London. [This is one of the oldest hospitals in England as it was founded in the year U 23 by Bahere a Minstrel of
Henry, I. Raherehad in the year 1103 founded the Monastery of St. Bartholomew. On the dissolution of. the Monasteries in 1544 the hospital contained 100 beds with a physician and three surgeons, but the hospital was refounded and in the year 1546. The great William Harvey was a physician to the hospital in the years 1609-43.]
