Morocco.
Ba Hamara, the Moorish Pretender, is marching on Fez. The Sultan has offered the crown to his brother, Muley Mohammed, who was recently released from prison (where he had been placed on suspicion of being connected with a plot to place him on the throne) and appointed Governor of the province of Fez, Muley Mohammed has, however, now declined to accept the crown. The Moroccan Pretender has threatened to attack Melilla, the Spanish settlement on the northern coast, if the Sultan’s followers areallowed to take refuge there. The Governor -has replied that he is awaiting orders from Madrid.
