The parade of the Foxton Rifles for next Thursday has been cancelled. Mr M. C. Farrington gives notice that trespassers on his property, Whinkino a, with dog or gun, will be prosecuted. The Wanganui Education Board advertises the meeting of householders for the election of school committees will be held on Monday, the 27111 inst. Nominations for Mayor and Councillors must be made before noon of Monday next, the 30th inst. All accounts against the Wanganui battalion must be rendered by Satinday to Captain Walsh, Quartermaster.
Sir Arthur Douglas’s resignation of the position of Under-Secretary for Defence is gazetted. The referendum taken on the liquor question led to an unprecedented and overwhelming prohibitionist vote in Kansas.
A cablegram from Danvers, in Massachusetts, states that it is expected that Mr Chamberlain will visit Mrs Endicott, Mrs Chamberlain’s mother, at the end of the summer. ,
Managers or owners of Factories who have not paid the registry fees by to-night will be summoned and held liable to a penalty of five pounds a pay.

To-night the concert in aid ot All Saints’ Church will take place at the Public Hall, and there is every probability of a big attendance, as a large number ot reserved seats have already been taken. The prices of admission are 2s and is, children half-price. The public can expect a genuine evening’s entertainment, in which some of the best vocalists are taking a part. The doors will be open at half-past seven, and the overture will be played punctually at 8, owing to the length of the programme.
