All Saints’ Church.

GOOD FRIDAY AND EASTER. The sacred season was observed at All Saints' with the familiar services of these days. On Good Friday Matins was said, with the Ante-Communion, at n am.; and evensong at 3 p.m., the vicar officiating on both occasions, Easter Day opened with a celebration of the Holy Communion at 7.30 a.m. Many of the. officers antbwisn of the battalions in camp had intended being present but were prevented through unavoidable changes in the camp arrangements. At 9 a.m. a Church Parade of the Wanganui Battalion was held at the camp. Lieut.-Col. J. P. Watt and his staff were present; and the battalion made a fine" muster. The Rev. H. F. Wilson, chaplain to the Foxton Rifles, officiated. The Wanganui Garrison Band accompanied the hymns. The service was short and bright, with a genuine Easter ring about it, and was greatly enjoyed. While the offertory was being collected, the band played a sacred voluntary. Matins was sung in the Church-at 11 a.m. and evensong at 7 p.m. At evensong the Church was crowded with parishioners and volunteers. It was one of the heartiest of the many hearty services that have been known in All Saints’. The men were nearly all Churchmen, hailing from Wellington and other towns; and their reverent behaviour and hearty participation in the worship of the evening was a lesson in Christian Brotherhood. The Lessons, were read by Mr King, of the D Battery, Wellington Garrison Artillery. The choir was augmented by several visiting ladies and gentlemen, and did its important duties excellently. The Church officers are to be congratulated on the ready and efficient measures taken for the accommodation of an unusual influx of visitors. The Easter decorations,: lyere very effective, the bright vestments and flowers of the altar being especially pleasing, and the white chrysanthemums arranged along the choir screen.
