The Kapiti Excursion.
♦ The excursion trip to Kapiti by tha Queen of the South yesterday was very much enjoyed, and well patronised, The steamer left the wharf at 8 a m. and got to Rangatira point at 12.30 having met with an ■ adverse tide and a head breeze, but the seaw.u hardly rough, just a motion which upset the equilibrum of a few of the smaller passengers. Most of the passengers landed on the island and had a pleasant afternoon, many climbing the hills to secure the magnificent view to be had from them, The Queen moved aroitnd the coast searching for good fishing ground, blit the fish were away on their holiday At 4.30 a Start for home was made, and the wharf was reached at 8 pm. The weather was beautiful all day and the night magnificent. A large crown of friends and volunteers were at the wharf to witness the return.
