Cyclone at Townsville.
A telegram dated Brisbane, stated that every porportion of Townsville and its suburbs had suffered by the cyclone which struck the town on Tuesday, particularly the north .ward and Hermit Park districts. The calamity was unprecedented, and it is impossible to estimate the damage. Many persons were injured and several killed. The hospital collapsed during the cyclone, killing six patients and injuring several others. Seven hotels were damages, two being demolished. The English Cathedral, the new Catholic church, the Grammar School, and the School of Arts were all severely damaged. The steamer Barratta was blown out of the harbour and has not been seen since.
