The Cadet Concert
The indefatigable Captain of the Cadets is leaving no stone unturned to have uniforms for his company at Easter. He is quite right to do his utmost to pub the Cadets on a similar footing with other volunteers, and in view of the probability of a large encampment here, it becomes more necessary still. Some residents, in a quiet and unofficious manner have donated subscriptions for this purpose, but as the company is large many lads require, uniforms so that it was decided to get the public to lend a hand. The concert on Tuesday evening should be well attended both for the good bill of fare provided and for the cause to which the profits will be devoted The programme is advertised and disclose a capital selection of items. Captain Jack and his merry men are to the fore, and it is especially pleasing to see this mutual help The Manawatu Cadets have given public exhibitions of their skill in the bayonet exercise, for which they have received unanimous praise, thus their exhibition will be well worth seeing. Captain Jack has before now pleased a Foxton audience with his Scotch Reels, and is kindly going to do so again : Miss Jack is lending her aid by providing the opening. overture: The ladies are helping splendidly, and all the items are bound to meet with approval: a new singer in Foxton is Mr Alfred Cook who will give the “ Charge of the light brigade,” his family are well known for their sweet voices and therefore one more addition will be welcomed.
We anticipate a great success and hope it will prove so, for the Cadet Corps is one worthy of the support of all citizens.
