Stock Market.
Messrs Abraham and ‘Williams report as follows : v . Since last week we hare the following sales to report on, viz., Paraparumui, Shannon, Ofcaki, Wood villa, Dannevirke, Pahiatua, and our annual sheep fair at Palmerston North. At each of these centres wa have had large entries and good sales have resulted:. At Shannon every available yard Was utilised to the utmost extent, and if the sales continue to be patfosised to this extent we must provide further accommodation at an early , date. The Sheep Fair was characterised by much smaller entries than are usual; that is accounted for by the absence of the large mobs of Hawke’s Bay sheep which we usually get, We yarded close on 12,000 sheep, but for the most part these were inferior quality and met with a very poor demand. A large number of lambs were yarded, huh not a single pen of decent rape lambs wer» offered; those would have met with a keen demand, a small pen of halfbred Southdowns which; answered to the description making 10s 6d. W® look for an early improvement in prices of good breeding ewes. Forward wethers sold well considering the poor demand there is now for fats. Most of the local breeders were conspicuous by the absence. Palmerston Sheep Fair—Forward wethers 12s to 12s 3d, h&lfbreds 11s mixed ewes and wethers lls Id, fat ewes lls 4d to 12g 6d, breeding ewes mixed aged 7s 3d to lls Id, 2th ewes 3s 7d to 20s 6d, fullmouth ewes 6s 3d to 9s 6d, aged ewes 3s 6d to 5a 6d, half-Southdown lambs 10s 6d, well-grown lambs 6s 3d to 7s 6d, small lambs 2s 6d to 4a Bd.
