The marble arcb erected at Senanning, the spot in Pekin where Baron von Ketteler, the German Minister to China, was murdered in June, 1900, was unveiled on Monday. The arch, which contains an inscription in the Latin, German and the Chinese languages, expressing penitence for the assassination of the envoy,, was dedicated by Prince Chun in an impressive ceremony. ~ The Prince bowed before the foreigh diplomatists who were present, declaring that the memorial would be a warning to the people, a sign of friendship between Germany and China, and a symbol of peace. Baron Yon de Galtz, German Charge d’Aftaires, in replying, emphasised the Emperor of China’s fulfilment of the pledge that he would perpetuate his friendship for the foreign Governments, German troops marched under the arch.
