Alleged Horsestealing.

H. E. A. Cameron (Mr Loughnan) was charged with the alleged theft of a horse, the alleged property of D. J. Tucker, of Waituna, valued at £ll, Mr Cooper appeared for the prosecution.

The facts of the case as detailed by counsel were that in May last accused negotiated with the informant for the purchase of the horse’ in question for £ll. It was arranged that accused should try the animal before completing and Cameron accordingly rode it the following day and took bis departure on the next. Efforts wore made to trace him but without success and eventually the matter was placed with the police. The detectives interviewed accused in Wellington when he stated he had sold the horse. Nothing satisfactory was arranged, but B^-

sequently accused sent the informant £i on account. In November a warrant was issued for his arrest.
