Foxton Borough Council.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above was held last night at 7.30 o’clock at the Library Buildings. Present—His Worship the Mayor (Cr P. J. Hennessy), and Cra Alex. Speirs, B. G. Gower, G. H. Stiles, W. Robinson, S. H, Baker, T. Westwood and J. Symons. The minutes of previous meetings were read and confirmed.
Cr G. Simpson made the usual declaration and took his seat. The inward and outward correspondence was read. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Westwood, That this Council are willing to pay a proportionate cost of land to be obtained for approaches to proposed bridge at Shannon, such proportion to be on the basis of the commissioner’s report. Carried. The usual monthly reports were read. Proposed by Cr Robinson, seconded by Cr Gower, That this Council grants the free use of the Victoria Park for children's sports on Wednesday, 17th iast. Carried. Proposed by Cr Gower, seconded by Cr Baker, That the accounts as read be passed for payment. Carried. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Robinson, That the reports as read be adopted- Carried. Proposed by Cr Symons, seconded by Cr Speirs, That). Fitchelt’s tender for night soil cart be accepted at £zq, and that the tyres on wheels be 4m. x fin. Carried. Proposed by Cr Westwood, seconded by Cr Symons, That Mr H. M. Cole be asked to stop sand drift near stables on Main street. Carried. The Council went into committee to consider tenders received for different works. Upon resuming the ordinary business the following resolutions were declared carried• Proposed by Cr Speirs, seconded by Cr Simpson, That fresh tenders be called lor lamp lighting, to be in by the next meeting of the Council.
Proposed by Cr Symons, seconded by Cr Gower, That H. Coley's tender for carting at ios 5<3 be accepted. Proposed by Cr Westwood, seconded by Cr Symons, That the tender of H. Bradcock for dog registration at §d per head be accepted. , Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr "Robinson, That fresh tenders be called for carting of night soil for by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Robinson, That the Borough office be closed front the 22nd to 28th of December, and the day *« n * holidays be the 25th, *6th and 27th tn December, and January Ist,
