SETTLEMENT IN THE TRANSVAAL.
Lord Milner’s new scheme of settling the land with national scouts and by owners is working admirably. Two of the Cronjes and other influential Boers are cooperating. Lord Milner has induced a large land syndicate to accept indigent families as tenants, the Government advancing money at a low rate of interest for building and purchasing stock and machinery. A syndicate in the Southern Transvaal will rent fifty thousand acres, conditional upon 250 families settling. THE ZULUS AND THE BOERS.
The chief Dinizulu, •while loyal to the British, encourages the Zulus in their animosity to the Boers. He has been warned that he will be held responsible for the good behaviour of the natives.
