Mr Job Vile.

The Post says Mr Vile, who is an ex-Mayor of Pahiatua, was born in 1845 in Somersetshire, England, and was educated in a London Board school. When he arrived in the colony with his parents in 1856 he lived at the Hutt for two years, and the family then went to the Wairarapa, where they became prominent in local matters. Mr Job Vile in 1872 started in business for himself in Masterton as a coach proprietor, and he established services between Wellington and the Wairarapa, Pahiatua, and Woodville, and still later between Hawera, Manaia, Opuuake, Parihaka, and New Plymouth, He was one of the prime movers in the inauguration and proclamation of Pahiatua as a borough, and was its first Mayor. He was also the first Chairman, and can certainly claim to be one of the fathers of Pahiatua, Mr Vile has also held other positions in other local bodies, and has been a faithful temperance advocate.
