THE ELECTION.
■to THE EDITOR OF THE MANAWATU HERALD.
Sm,—-In year leading article on the election in Thursday’s issue you hint that in the event of a non-supporter of the present Government being returned for the district, and Mr Seddon remaining in power, that there would be no loaves and fishes for Manawatu. This being so, does this not show that the Government has too much power, that they can abuse it in this way. You admit that opposition is good, but ridicule the idea of Mr Vila standing ap an opposition candidate because the present opposition party is without a recognised leader. I for one think the present Government has too large a majority, and that it is the duty of all fair-minded men and women to help to put more opposition members into Parliament, providing they are men of integrity, and by so doing equalise the balance of power, which, in my opinion, is needful for the wellbeing of this or any other country. I am, &c.,
Britisher.
