The King’s Birthday.

The celebration of His Majesty’s birthday will be held on Monday next, and here the proceedings will be by Sports in Victoria Park. The Sports and Athletic Club have prepared an excellent programme, and made good arrangements for the comfort anil convenience of visitors, A special train leaves Feilding timed to arrive at Poxton before the first race is run, returning after all the races are finished. The fares have been fixed at excursion rates, so the cost of travelling will be small. Given a fine day our up-country friends will have the opportunity of having an enjoyable outing at little expense.

Prom the published lists it will have been seen that the contestants are many and are all good men, so that the events should be well contested and closely finished.

The Brass Band has been engaged and their music will tend to enliven the breaks between the races.

The caterers are the Messrs Langley Bros , which is a guarantee that the hungry and thirsty will be well looked after.

The office-bearers are all good reliable men, well up to their duties and keen on making the day a marked one for their visitors pleasure.

We certainly look forward to the meeting being a record one, as everything in good prizes, careful handicapping, and arrangements are the best that could bo wished.

In the evening an excellent concert has been arranged at the Public Hall to close the day fittingly,
