All Saints’ Church.

At All Saints’ Church last night the Dedication Festival was begun with Choral Evensong at 7.30 p.m. Tha canticles were sung to Bennett’s wellknown setting in F and the anthem was the lata Sir John Stainer’s beautiful rendering of the words from the Revelation of St John, beginning “ What are those which are arrayed in white robes ? ” The preacher was tha Rev., John McNickle, M.A., Vicar of

Levin, who took for his text Heb. XII. i, and drew out some of the great lesson contained in the doctrine of the Communion of Saints. On Sunday - (being within the octave of All Saints) there will be a special celebration of the Holy Communion at 8 a.m.

At the service last night the new West End window was seen, in complete state, for the first time. _ It is of painted glass, the work and gift of Mrs C. England. The effect both within the church, and (at night time) without, is most pleasing, and the general feeling of worshippers must be one of satisfaction with this notable improvement ia the sacred building and of gratitude for the patient labour bestowed. It is interesting to remark that this glass was painted by Mrs England for the sanctuary of St Mark’s, Wellington, many years ago. A few months back it was removed from St Mark’s to make room tor stained glass and, by the kindness ot the Vicar, the Rev. R. Coffey was presented to the church at Foxton_’
