Boer Leaders.
Dr Leyds, who, in the latter days of the Boer Republics, was the European diplomatic representative of the Transvaal, has informed the former Transvaal officials now in Europe that his Government will be unable to compensate them, owing to lack of funds. Ha added that nothing was decided on their behalf at the Vereeniging Conference when the terms of settlement were discussed.
He refused to advise them to serve Great Britain.
As the result of Dr Leyds's disclosures of the position, a committee has been appointed to proceed to London and interview.Mr Chamberlain, Secretary of State for the Colonies.
