Benefit Dance
Last night the dance organised by Mrs Bradcock on behalf of Mrs Mackie, who lately lost her husband and has been left with three young children dependent upon her, took place at the Public Hall, and was of a most enjoyable character. Dancing commenced at 8 o’clock, and was kept up with vigour till the early hours of this morning. During the evening songs were contributed by different guests, both ladies and gentlemen, and were much enjoyed. The hall was nicely decorated. Great credit is due to Mrs Bradcock, the secretary, and her committee of ladies, who all worked hard to make the event the great success it was. The Foxton Brass Band kindly played the first three
dances on the programme, and loft nothing to be desired as far as time and tune went. Miss Iraria kindly presided at the piano, and the music was of her usual high-class style. Miss Qarbes, a young lady from Wellington, who has lately commenced music teaching in this town, played the extras. The supper provided by the ladies was an excellent one, and was done full justice to. Mr J. Walls acted as M.C. for the evening,
