The Boer Generals.
The “ Cologne Gazette ” states that the Boer Generals in am ;st unambiguous fashion have refused to ask the British Minister at Berlin to apply for an audience of the KaiserThe Boer Generals were frantically applauded in the streets of Paris. Some hostility was exhibited by the crowds towards Britain.
In responding to a welcome from the president of the Committee for Boer Independence, General Botha, postponing his appeal for charity, delivered a political speech. He referred to the splendid reception which the French people had given to "our venerable President," and reiterated the usual professions of contingent loyalty. He declared that the Boere deserved early autonomy. He hoped the French would help to prevent the Boers being dragged in the mud.
