Foxton Borough Council.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above was held at the Library Buildings last night at 7.40 o’clock.

Present—His Worship the Mayor (Cr P. Hennessy), and Crs W. Robinson, J. Symons, J. W. Walsh, B. G. Gower, G, H. Stiles, S. Baker and A. Speirs. The minutes of previous meetings were read and confirmed.

Cr Walsh apologised for the absence of Cr Westwood from the meeting, The inward and outward correspondence Was read, Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Robinson, That the application of Jane Matilda Sexton for permission to erect a verandah at Mr Snow’s shop be granted on the usual conditions. Carried.

Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Symons, That the seal of the Council be affixed to the transfer Whyte to Osborne in accordance with the request of Hankins and Loughnan. Carried, Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Speirs, That the reports as read be adopted. Carried. Proposed by Cr Speirs, seconded by Cr Gower, That the offer of this Borough of £SOO towards the extension of the tramway to Bulls be rescinded, and that notice be sent to the Manawatu County Council. Carried.

Proposed by Cr Robinson, seconded by Cr S. Baker, That the Mayor and Cr Symons sign the railway agreement in reference to street from wharf. Carried.

Proposed by Cr Gower, seconded by Cr Robinson, That Cr S. 11. Baker’s name be added to the Public Works Committee. Carried.

Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Symons, That the foreman be instructed to fence off the street granted by the Railway Department to the Council, so that same could be formed and metalled as per agreement. Carried. Proposed by Cr Walsh, seconded by Cr Speirs, That the Council make a few concrete blocks suitable for using as kerbing to the footpaths, and that the cost of making same be compared with the price of timber, which would be used for the same purpose. Canned. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Robinson, That the next monthly meeting of this Council be held on Friday, 7th November, at usual time and place, instead of on the King’s Birthday. Carried. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Gower, That the clerk be instructed to write to Mrs W. 6. White and inform her that the Council has removed the gorse placed in front of her property by the Council’s men, and any further growth of gorse in future will be from the fences adjoining, and that Mrs White will be held liable. Carried. The Council then adjourned.
