Volunteer Notes.
The local corps have accepted the challenge from the Shannon Rifle Club to shoot a friendly match. It was decided that it should take place on the second Wednesday in October. It was also decided to entertain the Shannon team at dinner on that day. A notice to all members of the company will be found in another column re handing in their rifles and bayonets to be overhauled by the Government armourer.
A meeting of the shooting committee was held last night to handicap the following members who have nominated for the three trophies to be shot for. Following are the handicaps A Class. Capt, Walsh. Lieut. Jonson, Sergt ß Mitchell and Hamer, Pri. Smith and Bug. Newth, scr.; Privts. Ball and Betty, 5 points; Privts. Jonson and Morgan, 7 points. B Class. Lieut. Baker and Pri. Clark, scr.; Privts. Rand, Nye and Hurley, 8 points ; Pri. Bowe, 5 points ; Privts. Gillespie and Howan. 7 points. C Class. 1
Pri. Falkner, scr.; Pri. Matherson, 8 points ; Sergt. Nye, 4 points ; Cor. Coley, Privts. Baker, Mcßraiety, E. Hudson, Hudson, 5 points; Privts. Anderson. Hill, Perreau, Rickard, Martin, Easton, 7 points.
