Fighting in Timor.
The steamer Australian brings news of the outbreak of war between the ■ Portuguese and the natives in Timor. Fierce fighting took place at Dilli,' S* on the northern coast, where the Australian landed a large quantity of war - ; supplies for the garrison. [Timor is the most important of the i chain of islands which stretch east- ' \ ward of Java, and is one of the East j t Indian Archipelago. Timor is opposite -j side of the Timor Sea to Northern. M Australia. The smallest, or western I port of the island belongs to the Dutch, ■ but the eastern part is Portuguese.
