THAT FOOTPATH.
I*o THE EPITOR OF THE MANAT WO HERALD.,-"' Jj Sir,—la reading the Mawawat# Hesald of the 26th insfc. I noticed y your remarks re improvements being > effected on property recently ;pur- * { chased by Mr Osborne. r .TS We, as residents of Foxtoh are always glad to see improvements that will tend to leave a favorable- im- 'jj presaion on visitors. f Yesterday a gentleman visitor said, “ I visited Foxton about six yearia .: ■ ago—got df the train near the racecourse and walked into the town. The first impression I received was from a neglected building on the corner which was a perfect eyesore. j The impression was such that I did not visit Foxton for years after;.' I notice that the corner is now being improved.” To encourage those who have the welfare of the borough at ; heart I think the council should bo asked to form a footpath from the Avenue to Jenks’ street or the Park —on the east side of Park street, and -ii plant a row of deciduous trees on tha *. west side, this would be as good as' T telling visitors, “ We are glad to see you and hope you will enjoy youuMd selves.” Improvements to Park street, our ] main approach to Foxton, have been spoken of for years, and I feel aura the council would be carrying out the wishes of a great many ratepayers. if they did this important work. Trusting you will find space in your valuable columns for these few remarks. - lam, &c., Progression.
